Exploring G-d Chug Updates
Posted on: February 7, 2021, by : katherinebGreetings! We’re half way through our G-d chugim where we’re exploring G-d in nature, G-d in song, and G-d in art. The kids have been making some amazing observations. As they reflected on how having a “full” representation of G-d might affect their religious perspectives they came up with this amazing list (lightly edited).
Drawing pictures of G-d would
*change how you think of G-d.
*mean you’d have to choose a gender.
*restrict G-d’s abilities
*make us think we’re like G-d
*remove the mystery and power behind G-d’s name
*limit G-d, if G-d is everywhere, G-d cannot be captured in 1 image
*influence others’ ideas of what G-d is
*imply there is one way to show G-d and might offend people
puts G-d in just one category
*change our relationship with G-d because G-d is not something we can see on paper
*deny the perfection of G-d which lies outside our limited, human realm of understanding
